ASA and CERA enhancements

The world of risk, and employer needs, are ever-changing. That’s why we continually review and update our curriculum to ensure that it prepares actuaries with the skills employers require—skills that will help them address the real-world challenges of today, and tomorrow.

Our enhanced ASA and CERA curricula now include a greater focus on predictive analytics and modeling, and better balance short- and long-term insurance.

FSA enhancements

The recent ASA and CERA credential enhancements have given us the opportunity to enhance our FSA curriculum with deeper track-specific topics and predictive analytics material in the following ways:

Realigned and Enriched Topics

We delve deeper into track-specific topics—without adding exams or modules.

Internationally Focused Topics

Students are exposed to more global topics and case studies, to better prepare them to work anywhere in the world.

Predictive Analytics

We’ve added more advanced, hands-on applications for each practice area—beyond the basics covered in the ASA curriculum.

The new FSA exams and modules will be released through 2021.

New methods for assessing predictive analytics knowledge

Evaluating predictive analytics knowledge via traditional testing has always proven to be a challenge. That’s why we’ve created a new testing model that allows us to better assess a candidate’s ability to master and use fundamental predictive analytics skills to solve real-world challenges. We now administer two exams in our ASA curriculum—one on basic predictive analytics methods and one on applications—via Prometric’s innovative computer-based testing platform. Based on a real-world data set and business problem, candidates must prepare a report that not only presents their solution, but demonstrates their ability to support their answer.
